The Engine 2 Diet. The revolution is in your veins.

Wednesday, December 17th, 2008

Meet Rip Esselstyn. He will tell you that western diseases thrive on the western diet. That our government sanctioned food pyramid is inverted. But don’t just believe him:

In the United States and most Western countries, diet-relatedchronic diseases represent the single largest cause of morbidityand mortality. These diseases are epidemic in contemporary Westernizedpopulations and typically afflict 50-65% of the adultpopulation, yet they are rare or nonexistent in hunter-gatherersand other less Westernized people. Although both scientistsand lay people alike may frequently identify a single dietaryelement as the cause of chronic disease (eg, saturated fat causesheart disease and salt causes high blood pressure), evidencegleaned over the past 3 decades now indicates that virtuallyall so-called diseases of civilization have multifactorial dietaryelements that underlie their etiology, along with other environmentalagents and genetic susceptibility.

- American Journal of Clinical Nutrition

Rip is officing in our space as we prepare to help him launch a marketing website that will support sales of his new book, The Engine 2 Diet. It advocates eating a plant-strong diet full of fruits, vegetables, legumes, whole grains, nuts, and seeds. The diet has been medically proven to cause dramatic reductions in LDL cholesterol (that’s the bad one) levels in as little as two weeks. Weight loss is another, more visible, and perhaps more motivating benefit.

When we look at the issues facing our country and world The Engine 2 Diet rises to the challenge in so many ways. We are proud of Rip for making the telling of this story such a huge part of his life. The book hits stores on the 25 of February. The site we are creating will launch January 1st. Keep an eye on your news stand for major stories about this book in early 2009.

Limited Edition.

Monday, December 15th, 2008

Jeff Manning is a limited edition person. Wicked smart yet a dude. Cocksure yet self effacing. A boy from Boston who fits right into Texas. You get the idea. A walking contradiction. Oh yeah, he also likes to wear pink. To celebrate this we gifted him his own limited edition (2 issue) pink Butler Bros tees. He wears them proud and dares people to comment. Soon he will be our neighbor as the Lance Armstrong Foundation heads east in 2009. Jeff does great work keeping the LAF connected to the outside via the web. We look forward to working with him in 09 to help put the beat down on cancer.

Dermalogica. Transforming individuals and industry.

Monday, November 24th, 2008

Dermalogica is a skin care system fueled by a results driven philosophy. While there is certainly science in the DNA of the brand there is also a passion for peoples wellness that’s fueled by founder Jane Wurwand:

“We are not part of the beauty business,” she says. “Skin care is not about beauty, nor is it about pampering, luxury or glamour. Taking care of your skin is like taking care of your teeth. It is a health necessity! And yes, you will look better as a result of doing it. But that’s secondary. You take care of your health as part of overall wellness and well-being, and as part of your responsibility and good stewardship of yourself.”

The print campaign we are developing with Lars Frazer for the brand nails the transformative moment between a person, the product, and the skin therapist applying it. A moment in which there is both an experience of results and a feeling of balance restored amidst the hustle and bustle of the world. The physical and the metaphysical colliding. Jane wouldn’t have it any other way. Stay tuned for the work…

What Jason’s Deli doesn’t have on the menu.

Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008

Jason’s Deli is the first restaurant chain in America to pull off a very healthy hat trick.

MSG – GONE. Trans Fat – GONE. High Fructose Corn Syrup – GONE!

The viral announcement video we produced to amplify their PR efforts features Rusty Coco, co-owner and Executive Vice President. It helped Jason’s announcement get picked up in The USA Today, The Washington Post, and countless blogs. Peep the Jason’s Deli home page to see the video for yourself. Congrats to Jason’s for well deserved coverage on a ground breaking initiative. Clean up the food system!

Ben Kweller’s commute to work.

Friday, September 26th, 2008

Leaving for work yesterday I crossed paths with my neighbor Ben. He was loading up his family and his band and gettin’ on the road again, Willie Nelson style. So begins the Changing Horses US tour. To hear a few tracks from the new album check out his my space page. Ben is a great fella and everyone on our street is really going to miss him and his wife and their son while they are out burning up the miles. Go catch his show if you can, the new album is fantastic. He comes back to Austin on Nov 2nd and will be playing Antones that night. The Butler Bros are working with Ben on his press kit as we speak. Stay tuned for some of that action in a future post. Vaya con Dios Kwellers.

Modeling High Fashion Home

Wednesday, May 23rd, 2007

mendez-models.jpg

Here is an outtake from last weeks photo shoot for High Fashion Home in Houston. We shot two campaigns on location with Adam Voorhes. One campaign will feature real High Fashion employees. In the shot above you’ll notice art director Adam Mendez (lower right) striking a modeling pose, reportedly Blue Steel, to inpsire the employees. Designer Cody Haltom (right) laughs at the result. Mendez, Cody and Stephanie Chan all put in two hard days and the resulting shots are currently being worked over in Voorhes retouching lab. We’re psyched.

It Came From The Butler Bros.

Monday, May 14th, 2007

Premium Records

We worked with scissors, glue and construction paper for Bruce Robison’s newest package design. Stephanie Chan, Cody Haltom, and Dusan Kwiatkowski worked wonders with color and shape to give Bruce a look that might separate him from the pile of typical singer songwriters out there. Bruce’s control of lyrics and respect for music the way it used to be made ensures him a place in music history. It Came From San Antonio is the third record we’ve designed for Bruce.
