Yesterday was Worldwide Instameet Day where groups in cities all over the world meet their fellow Instagrammers (IGers). We hosted the Austin-wide Instameet which turned out to be tons of fun! We got to put faces to usernames and document it all in our favorite filtered format. Check out our #instameetaustin album and be on the lookout for more activities if you’d like to come out next time.

Gave a preso at Assoc for Women in Communication’s “Get Smart Conference” today. It really all boiled down to these two slides.

Doris lives up the street. She is a retired teacher but has never stopped teaching. She invites our kids into her yard and gives them shears to cut her flowers, reminding them to pull the leaves off before we put them into water so they’ll last longer. Doris was a professor at the University of Texas where she taught weaving and textiles. These pieces of art are hers. She spends hours each day on her knees working in her garden and visiting with passers-by.

She encourages us each to do one thing to affect change. Starting with my little family‚ we are eating organic. We already plan a weekly menu and cook at homemost nights. We enjoy Meatless Mondays. We are all (11 year old and 13 year old included) learning to read food labels. Thank you Robyn for inspiring a Mom like me. - @BBrosBridget

Today is Bike to Work Day, and the City of Austin pulled out all the stops another year in a row to show their appreciation to all the bike commuters out there.  Adam and I decided to take advantage of this holiday with a round-about ride into the office. We stopped in our hood at Bouldin Creek Coffee House, then meandered our way over to the Texas Bicycle Coalition. Free breakfast and bicycle talk all around! Please be Kind to Cyclists and League of Bicycling Voters made a presence handing out info and bike centric goodies. Austin designer, Ryan Rhodes had some seriously cool tshirts for sale for his new project Viva La Bicicleta. Buying one today.  What a great way to celebrate our bike friendly city AND get my workout in, all before 9am!

We produced the event, and brought URDB [The Universal Record Database] and Do512.com onboard to help make this event unique. Nine cancer related word records were set that night, and can be viewed individually at BreakCancer.co. We also connected with Omega Broadcast Group in North Austin, who generously donated several thousand dollars of video gear for us to use to capture the event. Their desire to help “break cancer” and raise awareness for the cause provided us with some phenomenal gear, including a 20′ Jib, 1080p HD cameras, and more!

I’ve been a fan of Omega for a while now. Having worked with many gear rental houses during the past 9 years here in Austin, and up in Dallas, and Omega Broadcast Group is one of the best by far. The staff is extremely helpful, they have a phenomenal inventory of gear that’s all clean and in great working order, and the prices are pretty much the best you’ll find. They also have a great studio space with a huge infinity cyc wall that we’ll be shooting on in a few weeks. I realize I’m sounding like a paid spokesman right now, but I assure you that I’m not! Having had many frustrating experiences with quality control and inventory over the years with other companies, I was excited to find Omega. Dave, Gabe, and Robert are great, and will help you out.
